Grand café Martinique

En 1702, Gabriel-Mathieu d'Erchigny de Clieu, jeune Dieppois de 15 ans, vient d'obtenir ses galons d'enseigne de vaisseau. Il part à la Martinique où il fait fortune en cultivant de la canne à sucre. Dix-huit ans plus tard, il décide de cultiver le café aux Antilles, pour alimenter les cours européennes de cette boisson en vogue et vendue à prix d'or.
